Ingredients

  • Dough
  • 500 g 4 cups white flour

  • 1 cube 1 cube fresh yeast

  • 1 tsp 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp sugar

  • 100 ml 3/7 cup plant-based drink

  • 240 ml 1 cup lukewarm water

  • Topping
  • 1 handful 1 handful dry fried onion pieces

  • 5 pieces 5 pieces apple chips

  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp oat flakes

  • 1 tsp 1 tsp salt

  • 1 pinch 1 pinch marjoram

  • 2 tbsp 2 tbsp palm oil

  • 3 cloves 3 cloves garlic

  • Dressing
  • 4 tbsp 4 tbsp soy yoghurt

Directions

  • Mix yeast, lukewarm plant-based drink and sugar in a cup and place the cup in a warm place to allow the yeast to react.
  • Sift the flour into the large bowl in which you have made the well and sprinkle salt around the edges.
  • Pour the activated yeast into the well and stir it into the flour.
  • Add the lukewarm water and knead the dough. If the dough is too wet, add a little flour. The dough should be airy and soft, not too stiff.
  • Let the dough rest in a warm place for at least 30 minutes.
  • In the meantime, fry the oats and apple chips in palm fat, taking care not to burn the ingredients.
  • Add the remaining ingredients for the topping, except the garlic, to the flakes and apples and mix well.
  • Roll out the dough into a pizza shape and spread the yoghurt dressing over it. Spread the topping over the yoghurt.
  • For the most authentic flavour, bake the onion pie in a stone oven at 355°F (180°C) for about 20-30 minutes until the dough is nicely crisp, or even better in a wood-burning oven.
  • 10 minutes before the end, sprinkle the fresh chopped garlic over the pie.
  • Serve warm with a splash of dry wine.
